Rain Helps Starbucks Stuffers

Yes, it poured on Monday, Nov. 10 but inside our friendly Starbucks at Memorial and Sam Houston feeder we drank great coffee and tea, snacked and WENT THROUGH A RECORD 35 POUNDS OF FIBERFIL!  As a result, our deliveries to hospitals this week were incredible (see below).  We will meet at Starbucks on Monday, Nov. 17 from 2:00-4:00 and on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church from 9:30-1:00 in Room D220.

A warm welcome to our new recruits who are busily cutting, turning and sewing pillows.  Without our wonderful volunteers, we would not be able to reach as many patients in the Houston area.  See all of you soon!

The Department of Volunteer Services would like to thank all of the members of The Common Thread Circle for their continuous support of the patients at our hospital. Your handmade items are so special! These items are given out by our floor host volunteers when they visit the various inpatient floors or to family members who come to our department looking for pillows, blankets, stoma covers etc. for their loved one.

I think that Rima and I have developed a great delivery system through my fellow staff member, Cindy Shursen, who lives nearby. It’s a joy to work with you all! Many thanks again!
