The mission of The Common Thread Circle of volunteers is to provide Houston area hospital patients with comforting handcrafted items.  We hope to bring some joy and comfort to these patients during their difficult hospital stay.  We make pillows in shapes of large and small hearts.  The large hearts are useful as a cough pillow during respiration therapy for patients following heart surgery as well as other surgeries.  Also,  breast cancer patients use them to protect their ports.  We donate our stuffed toys which we call “critters” and knitted bears to hospitalized children.  Our knitters and crocheters make lovely scarves, hats, and shawls for both adults and children.  Blankets and tote bags are helpful during the patient’s stay.  The “therapy dolls” prepare children for their treatments.  We use colorful materials that are 100% hypoallergenic and irritant free.

The Common Thread Circle is a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization affiliated with Memorial Drive United Methodist Church and its affiliated organizations.  Our efforts are very much appreciated by the hospitals and patients.  Letters of appreciation sent to us can be read in our Testimonial section.
